Introduction
To kick off our Ensora Vendor Circle for Vancouver wedding vendors, we thought, why not start with ourselves? So here’s a little self interview about officiant led ceremonies in Vancouver to begin this journey. It feels honest, lighthearted, and the perfect way to share who we are before inviting others to join.
How The Ensora Collaborates with Vancity Officiant
The Ensora grew out of everything we learned as officiants. When we built it, we wanted a space where couples could feel calm, connected, and completely themselves. The way sound carries, the way light falls on the signing table, these details come from years of watching what makes a ceremony feel right. Now, Vancity Officiant and The Ensora work side by side, hosting small signings, intimate elopements, and legal ceremonies for couples who want something simple yet meaningful.
Our shared philosophy is 眾生平等 (All Beings Are Equal), meaning that every love story, no matter who you are, deserves to be witnessed with the same respect, presence, and care.
The Interview
How did your journey in the wedding world begin?
Kit: I was an award winning wedding photojournalist before becoming an officiant. I learned early on that the most powerful photos came from truth, not perfection, and I carried that into ceremony writing.
Kevin: I became the first Asian Certified Life Cycle Celebrant® in Canada. That training taught me to see ceremony as art, rooted in story, emotion, and authenticity.

How would you describe your creative philosophy or working style?
Kit: Every ceremony should sound and feel different. It is not about writing something beautiful; it is about writing something true. Kevin: We are calm but intuitive. Some moments need structure, others need space to breathe.
What do you value most when working with other vendors?
Kit: Mutual respect. When everyone focuses on the couple instead of their own spotlight, the day flows naturally.
Kevin: Communication without ego. It is about reading the room and supporting one another.
How have you seen weddings evolve in recent years?
Kit: Couples are rewriting the rules. They want smaller weddings with more meaning and less pressure.
Kevin: It is less about show, more about presence. People care about emotion again, and that is why intimate ceremonies are becoming the new normal. The shift became especially clear during and after COVID, as social circles grew smaller and people began valuing closeness and sincerity over scale.

When you think of an ideal wedding day, what moment feels most real?
Kit: The vows that no one else can understand except the couple themselves.
Kevin: The tender mix of reluctance and happiness on the parents’ faces when I say, “Two families become one.”
What keeps you inspired outside of work?
Kit: Fi Chai, the first dog we had but who passed away at 17. We launched The Ensora on his birthday, which will always be remembered. He is definitely my motivation.
Kevin: Our two rescue dogs, Fagu and Maji, always. They remind me that love does not need words.
Closing Reflection
Vancity Officiant began as a small idea: that love deserves words that fit, not scripts that repeat. That idea grew into everything we do today. Whether in a forest, a living room, or at The Ensora, our goal is the same: to make every ceremony feel like the couple’s own heartbeat.
